The Story of Dr. VonHellton
It began with an accident, as these things often do. Dr. Stewart VonHellton commanded his carriage driver to “Stop for no one!” as they raced through the damp, darkened cobblestone streets of Whitechapel, London. A heavy bump in the road barely registered as VonHellton considered his latest scientific accomplishment and impatiently waited to share the news with his beloved wife, Eloise.
When he arrived at the manor, Eloise was nowhere to be found. A solemn officer soon brought terrible news: while shopping in town, she had been fatally struck by an unknown speeding carriage.
Two years later, VonHellton was a changed man—but not for the better. He dedicated his life to the dark arcane arts, recklessly fusing science and the occult in a desperate effort to resurrect his wife. His experiments remained fruitless until one fateful stormy evening.
As lightning crashed, Eloise’s decaying corpse twitched upon a cold stone slab. She rose again, but the creature before him was only a pale shadow of his wife. Mindless and soulless, she attacked. The pistol fired in the dark, and his love died for a second time—this time by his own hand.
Fueled by loss, rage, and obsession, VonHellton continued searching for a cure. His increasingly bold experiments forced him from London to America, where he built a grand “hotel” whose guests never left. After attracting the attention of the authorities, he framed another man and fled to Colorado, drawn by rumors of a scientist named Tesla who had learned to command lightning.
VonHellton eventually discovered how to prolong his own life. He relocated his family manor to Colorado brick by brick, using his stolen years to create abominations, summon spirits, raise the dead, and imprison his worst failures beneath the estate.
Then he vanished.
The manor and its “children” remain. Without their master, they wage an endless struggle for control of the estate. Enter if you dare—but understand that VonHellton’s creations are still searching for new subjects.
